Ashfall is an upcoming MMORPG that is not only designed to give players a chance to save humanity in a post-apocalyptic world that honors oriental cultures in its design, but will also feature music composed by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer, Steve. Mazzaro and Inon Tzur of Fallout Fame.
IGN recently partnered with Ashfall developer Legendary Star Studio to showcase Ashfall gameplay that included an extensive look at the game in action, interviews with those responsible for its creation, and much more. You can watch the full Ashfall demo below and then read the rest of the article to find out everything you need to know about the upcoming game.
What is ashvl?
Ashfall, as mentioned earlier, is a shooter MMORPG set in a post-apocalyptic world that has seen an AI uprising that has pushed humans to the brink of extinction after a nuclear war. The few remaining survivors have been forced to live underground in dungeons for many years, but it’s finally time for you and your friends to venture back into the world in hopes of saving humanity.
“The Ashfall website is focused on rebuilding,” said Ashfall designer Jesse. It takes place in the future world where artificial intelligence unleashes an uprising and wages war against humans. After the nuclear apocalypse, there is nothing left but ruins in the world and you have to leave your vault to search for the legendary key known as the Creation Core to save everything.”
While Ashfall will eventually come to consoles, the MMO is slated to release first in 2023 on PC, iOS, and Android.
How does Ashfall stand apart from other post-apocalyptic games
The post-apocalyptic genre in the video game world is one that’s been visited many times before, but Ashfall seems to stand apart from the pack with its unique style that focuses on Eastern cultures and player freedom.
“Ashfall is different from the previous, premium, barren-themed games because we tried to put players in a new experience when they played it,” Jesse said. “To this end, we have perfectly highlighted the advantages of our project team and incorporated some unique oriental sentiments such as many Chinese-style buildings, monsters, and folk customs.”
The team at Legendary Star Studio is also very focused on immersion and wants players to feel as if they are part of the Ashfall universe, and it does so with motion capture, a real-time weather system, and exciting and meaningful combat situations. , an extensive character builder, and much more.
Oh, and wait until you hear about the music and why it seems to lift the ashfalls more.
The Ashfall soundtrack was created by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer and Legendary Crew
Music may be one of Ashfall’s biggest selling points as it is produced by Academy Award winners Hans Zimmer, Inon Tzur and Steve Mazzaro, and they will use Ashfall’s unique blend of Eastern culture and a devastated wasteland to craft music that will help bring out heart and emotion in both the story and the world.
“The Ashfall range not only includes a post-apocalyptic world, but also uses diverse unique elements from eastern cultures, providing a lot of inspiration for this collaboration,” said Zur. “We believe this will be a distinctive and unique style in the genre, and we hope to use music to bring a new understanding and presentation of the post-apocalyptic world and showcase the magic of the game world to players around the world.”
This music mission will be completed by integrating music with all aspects of Ashfall, carefully creating tracks for specific moments – whether it’s on a mission, a story experience, or just exploring the wasteland.
“In terms of music, we hope to help everyone better understand the world through memorable melodies,” Mazzaro said. “The results will accompany everyone as they explore the world and embark on a wonderful adventure.
In addition, our goal is to incorporate a number of unique tools to work in conjunction with the game’s story and battles, and with the music playing, players will be able to experience the intensity of the adventure even with their eyes closed.
“We have always believed that the synergy between music and games is something very meaningful. Music will not only be able to enhance and complete the game, but will also provide a combined experience of art, games and music for players. We very much hope that through our collaboration with Ashfall, we will be able to create an immersive experience like never before One for all.”
Ashfall walkthrough showcases character creation, high-level gameplay, and massive bosses
IGN’s Alan Wheeler was able to get hands-on with Ashfall to experience a running build of the MMO, and during the Ashfall demo, he was able to create a character and give fans a glimpse into low- and high-level gameplay.
Ashfall wants to give you the tools to create the character – called the Wanderer – that represents you or the character you want to create and play with for hours on end. In the character builder, you start by building the appearance of the character and then you have to make some choices as to what type of Wanderer you want.
These choices manifest themselves in the form of prototypes and attributes. These are your class and specific traits that can give you a head start on an aspect of the game in which you want to excel.
Do you want to be a charming and fast-talking hiker who can get the best discounts in any store? Go with the Wage Earner model, silver tongue, and charms. Want to go in guns blazing in any situation? Choose a gunslinger prototype that contains the nine spirits and attributes of a born leader. There are a lot of options, and this is just the beginning. As you level up, you will be able to continue building the character You are want to play. While there will be more, the full list of prototypes and themes is as follows;
Prototypes: Wanderer, sheriff, scavenger, mercenary, wage earner, hunter, gunslinger, bodyguard, assassin, arms dealer, famous hero, and mean joe
Features: Lucky, Backup Dancer, Silver Tongue, Nine Lives, Nomadic Genes, Magician, Craftsman, Born Leader, Couch Potato, and Mutation Prone
After creating his character, Alan is introduced to Drolma, an elderly woman who needs some help getting rid of some mutated bugs. There are dialogue options and a narrator who fills in as the story unfolds in front of you.
Then we take a look at the actual gameplay, where Alan brings his character through a level to keep bugs out of control. Ashfall plays in the third person perspective and encourages players to hide behind cover while waiting for the perfect moment to attack. There is also a mix of playing with firearms, grenades, skills, and much more.
Later, we were taken to a place called Iron Cage Cavern where we saw how playing with an AI partner would work. Alan has also been given access to bigger and better weapons like the sniper rifle and assault rifle. He had to release the prisoners, but not before he had to fire the teleportation chief who was doing everything in his power to stop him in his tracks.
Besides the gameplay, we are also dealing with a trailer that showed more open world and many areas that players will explore, including the desert and the beach full of shipwrecks. On the beach, we watched a boss battle against a huge boss known as the Crayfish Commander, seemingly a formidable enemy worth rallying your best friends to take down.
There’s a lot more to be revealed about Ashfall before it hits PC, iOS, and Android in 2023, and we look forward to sharing all the new details as we get closer to launch!
